I'm not saying a person on H1B necessarily should be allowed to apply for 485. All that I'm saying is the day when a person starts working on H, the PD becomes his/her's. Lets take an example.
1). A person start working on H1B from Apr'1998
2). In apr'2004 Employer "n" applies for Labor to permemently employ the alien. In that case the PD for the alien becomes ar'2004 correct?
3). instead I want th PD to be Apr'1998.
This gives the person the flexibility to move on to better prospects as a H1B, but at the same time preserves the PD. Ofcource the LC process needs to be restarted again each time he moves. Also one might choose to not file any LC because he does not plan to become a PR. Thats fine because nothing is lost.
What i meant was, although H1 it is a dual intent visa, you dont necessarily show your intention until you apply for your green card process. There are cities that follow different tax structures when you apply for labor or not. Technically, that when you are showing your intention of immigrating. So why throw a blanket on entry date on H1, when some of them dont have the intention of immigrating to US permanently. This will only increase the demand of the GCs.

His speech was contradicting at some instances. However, what I could conclude was that Indian and Chinese workers can be trained well and are more flexible than American workers. If you listen the speech again with this trainability factor (which he did not consider in his study), his contradicting assertations makes sense.

Guys,
The H1B holder is ELIGIBLE for the stimulus package since he/she has SSN. He won't be able to claim the benefit for spouse if the spouse does not have SSN.
So just because spouse does not have SSN does not mean that the H1B holder becomes ineligible to receive the benefit. H1B will get $600 for himself/herself as long as he/she has filed IT returns.

Yes because while the GC is pending the EAD/AP is given as a right not based on the merits. So you get a free ride, even if down the road you are not eligible for a GC...

The reason i'm asking this question because lot of times the Online status never changes for 3-4 months from 'Pending' to 'Approved'. When did you file your EB3 140 at NSC ? i filed in May 2007 - pending for 15 months by now.
Would you mind if i ask you when you've seen the LUD change before approval ?

First I called my few freinds in MT, WY and RI. Passed on info them since they are local.

66K plus 60K still only makes 126K, do they still have another 20K or so? How does the math tally here?
I think this all boils down to them wanting to clear the 485 backlog without accepting any more 485s all while not wasting any visa numbers for this year.
In an effort to juggle all these issues, they screwed it all up.
Bottom line is they want to streamline the system such that they don't have "unapprovable" 485s in the system. They have caught on to the way the lawyers and us legal immigrants were filing 485s to get our foot in the door then sitting tight for eons. They simply don't want that. They either want you here on a visa or on a green card straightforwardly. Thats what I am getting from all this.
There are about 18K CP cases.

I applied I-485/EAD/AP on July 24th at Nebraska. Have received EAD and FP done but AP is still pending.
I noticed couple of soft LUDS on my I-140 (which was approved in Dec, 2006) and I-485 in last few days but nothing on AP. My PD is Oct, 2005 ROW.
Still waiting.......

You will get your GC in 2011.
Which state are you in? Try other means of financing for the car. Sometimes the dealers themselves have options but might be a % or two higher.
There was a previous post regarding admisibility of EAD as one of the documents for DL. You might want to search for that post. I asume you dont have an H1b, right?
I am on H1 and I140 approved. Bank of american denied my car loan. Infact Honda Finance too denied my loan. Finally I had to go with Credit union who gave me very good APR for my excellent credit history. So there is a way out guys ..we just have to live with it untill we get our GC

Cmon stop the rumour. Just because some of you sent the application on 2nd doesnt mean that they will honour it. If and if they do , there will be much more serious and valid lawsuit, because they've already issued a revision from 2nd July. Under law they have to give everyone a fair and equal chance.
So pls stop cooking rumours from your lawyer. He simply doesn't want to pay back your fee and keeping your hope high..
